2022 Flu Vaccine Updates

Our flu clinics are now well under way. Our bulk weekend clinics have proven popular and have been a great way to get many patients vaccinated in a short period of time.

If you are 65 years and over you would have received an SMS inviting you to ring us and book in. If you haven’t as yet, please call the surgery for an appointment.

Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients would have also received an SMS inviting them to call and book in for their free flu vaccination.

Free flu vaccine is available to the following groups: All children 6 months to less than 5 years, patients 5 years and over with medical risk factors predisposing to severe influenza, all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons 6 months to 64 years of age and pregnant women.

We also have flu vaccine available for those patients who are not eligible for a free dose. The cost is $20.00 each, please contact our staff for a booking.

Annual vaccination is the most important measure to prevent influenza and its complications. It is recommended for all people aged 6 months and over.

Vaccination against influenza this year is even more important. Over the COVID-19 period there has been lower exposure to influenza virus and lower levels of influenza vaccine coverage compared to previous years. With borders reopening a possible resurgence of influenza can occur in 2022.
